Organizers Plan Valentine’s Day-Inspired Matchmaking Event and Wedding Vow Renewals

San Diego, Calif. – The Coronado Valentine’s Day 10K, 5K, and 1 Mile Fun Run, returns to Tidelands Park on Coronado Island Sunday, February 10, 2019. The event features flashy winged gold heart medals, matching winged heart T-shirts, live band/matchmaking event and wedding vow renewals.

Many participants run the fast and flat course of the Valentine’s Day 10K & 5K in search of a personal record. In 2019, runners will also have the chance to find or renew their love. Race bibs feature one of three different messages: ‘Available,’ ‘Taken,’ and ‘It’s Complicated.’ Event organizers implemented the matchmaking aspect to encourage socializing and in celebration of the Valentine’s Day holiday. New for 2019 participants may choose to renew their wedding vows at the run or propose to the one they love at our Proposal Point.

Now in its ninth year, the Coronado Valentine’s Day 10K, 5K, and 1 Mile Fun Run is well-known for its professional race management and attention to detail. The race typically fills to capacity as participants ranging from first-timers to professional’s flock to the USATF Certified Course for the holiday weekend.

At previous editions of the event, participants have fallen in love, met their soulmates, and rekindled old flames. “We’ve had proposals at the finish line and even had a full-blown wedding at the start” said Carrie Panek of KOZ Events. “This year we will be hosting wedding vow renewals near the finish line festival. What a fun way to celebrate Valentine’s Day weekend for couples, singles, families, and friends.”

In addition to entry and the matchmaking event, registration for the Valentine’s Day 10K, 5K, & 1-mile Fun Run includes a commemorative t-shirt, unique finisher medals, hand-carved cedar tiki awards for top finishers, chip timing and an epic event after party at McP’s Irish Pub & Grill. The 1 Mile Fun Run is the first event on the schedule and is designed so that parents may run the 1 mile with their kids and then run the 5K or 10K afterwards.
